MAKKO JUMEL
A cotton grown in Egypt, named after Makko Bey who grew the plant from East Indian seed for its flower, in his garden at Bulac without knowing its industrial value until Jumel called his attention to it. It was the first cotton cultivated in Egypt - its place is now taken by Ashmouni.
